Statuses

Statuses are a simple way to track progress of a text item in Ditto, and keep relevant team members in the loop. Using statuses allows writers and other collaborators to work on the right text items, easily signals to reviewers when it's time to chime in, and lets developers know when text is ready for production.

Status Basics

To set a status in the web app, click into any text item or component. In the edit panel, you'll see a Status dropdown menu. Your options are:

  • None
  • Work in Progress
  • Ready for Review
  • Final

Any changes to a text item's status will show up in the Activity Log, so you can track who has made the update. Anyone with editor permissions can update the status, and the color bar on the lefthand side will update to match the status.

Statuses in the plugin

Anyone on the team can update the status of a text item from the Edit Panel in the Ditto plugin. Simply click on a text item, then select the right status from the dropdown list. Your activity log will update with the new status.

Variant Statuses

Along with setting the status for a base text item, you can also set the status for the text of any variants your team is writing, too. So even if the base text is Final, you can indicate that the variant (say, a language translation or a role-specific variation) is still a work in progress.

By default, the variant text's status will match the base text. But whenever you update the status of a variant's text, the color bar on the lefthand side of the text item or component will update to show each status.
